Principles of Asana
In Principles of Asana we will study midlines, gravity lines, equal & opposite movements, direction of energy, foundations and more. Participants will explore the many principles of asana, gaining an understanding of how to integrate them into their asana practice. There will be ample practice time to develoop a clear feel for the ideas presented.

The principles of asana provide us with guidelines which help us maintain our poses longer with less work, reduce strain in the body, prevent injury, access new places within ourselves, and expand our repetoire of asanas. They give us standards from which we can self-evaluate in the poses and advance our understanding autonomously.

Anatomy 1
Anatomy 1 will cover the basics of anatomical orientation, bones and joints as they apply to the asanas. We will explore via anatomy books, hands-on-palpation of structures, observation of stuctures in poses, asana practice and various other activities. On Friday evenings we will review the intellectual aspects of the material, exploring ways to embed the information into our working knowledge. On Saturday mornings we will apply this learning to our asana practice, taking time to integrate our mental understanding into our bodies for maximum retention.
